StarCaddy turns PDAs into indispensable golf tools
GPS technology for popular PDAs gives golfers accurate yardages
that help shave strokes off their game
Norwalk, CT (April 4, 2002) - Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) such as Palm Pilots and PocketPCs aren't just for keeping track of contacts anymore. StarCaddy from LinksPoint adds a GPS receiver and easy-to-use software to PDAs to create the ultimate tool for getting accurate yardages on the golf course.
According to an informal survey of golf pros, the average golfer loses as many as six strokes per round to the wrong club selection. StarCaddy uses Global Positioning System (GPS) satellite technology to give golfers the information needed to choose the right club on every shot and pick up strokes immediately.
StarCaddy displays a digital map of the course on the user's PDA screen, using GPS to give the exact distance to the green, doglegs, sand traps, water hazards or any other course feature. Detailed digital maps can be downloaded for the courses golfers play at home, on vacation or on business. With just a tap on the PDA's screen StarCaddy analyzes all of the key elements of the course to improve club selection and the golfer's game. StarCaddy also automates scoring, calculates handicaps and tracks side bets. StarCaddy is available for PocketPC and PalmOS versions.
"Now your PDA can do double duty and serve you on the golf course, just like it does in your business life, " said Strite Potter, president of LinksPoint. "StarCaddy brings space-age technology to the game of golf with a simple, user-friendly application that helps the golfer improve their game. And best of all, it does it for much less than the cost of a good driver.
StarCaddy will be available in early May 2002 at select retail stores and at
